日本には春夏秋冬という明確な四季がありますね♪春は暖かく桜の花が咲き、夏は雨が梅雨時期に降り、その後に暑さが増していきます。秋には暑さが少しやわらぎ、過ごしやすくなり、冬には気温が急激に下がり、寒さが増していきます。 私は雪が降らない地域から来たので、初めて見た雪はとても印象的でした。🎏🌻🍁⛄️
私の母国アメリカの西海岸ロサンゼルスは、一年中暖かくとても過ごしやすい気候で、 基本的に年間を通してほとんど雨も降りません。現地で暮らす日本人の方々がロスを住みやすいと思う理由の一つとして、ほとんどの人が「天気の良さ」をあげています。あるサイトによると、ロスでは平均的に晴れの日が284日ほどあり、アメリカ全土に関しては平均的に205日が晴れの日だそうです。このように常に気候が安定しているため、日本みたいに四季を感じることができません。

さらに日本には四季に合わせて様々な行事があり 、季節ごとの行事やお祝いの日に出す特別な料理、「行事食」があります。家族の幸せや健康を願う意味が込められ、昔から伝えられているものです。その季節にあわせた旬の食材を使うことが多く、地域によって材料や調理法が異なります。旬を和食に取り入れることで、行事食からも四季を感じることができ、楽しみながら食べ物に感謝する心も学べます。
1月のお正月にはおせち料理とお雑煮。🎍2月の節分には恵方巻き。👹 皆さんはどの季節のどんな行事や行事食が好きですか？

Japanese Seasonal Goods

In Japan, there is a clear distinction when it comes to seasons. The winter is cold, filled with rainy days and snow. While the summers are hot, often scorching, with an intense humidity to match. But the associations just don’t stop there, with links to food and different cultural events. These are called seasonal foods and events. 🍶🍧👘
For example, in the summer, while it is hot, the season also has connections to fireworks, the Obon festival, and even cicadas. When it comes to food, no summer in Japan would be complete without watermelon, shaved ice, and chilled ramen noodles. 🍉

In winter, there is of course, snow, but also connections with hot springs, heated tables (kotatsu) and oil stoves. With regards to food, the winter cold means hot pots (oden), strawberries, and yuzu.
