いつの間にか梅雨が明けて、連日の猛暑日ですね💦今年の梅雨は少し異常だと感じました。ウエザーニュースによると、6月29日に気象台から東北南部の梅雨明けが発表された様子です。これは平年より25日早く、最も早い梅雨明けとされています。 期間も１４日間と史上最短の梅雨になったそうです。

新型コロナの影響で中止が続いていた花火大会や夏祭りが3年ぶりに再開する動きが相次いでいます。🎆そして夏も後半になるにつれ、どんどんサマーアクティビティーが増えていきます。ビーチ、プール、あるいは友達からバーベキューやキャンピングに誘われることが多くなり、そんな中、「BYO」という言葉を耳にすることがあるかもしれません。⛺️⛵️🌴 最近、この表示を上げるレストランやイベントが増えてきました。今回は少しずつ日本でも浸透しつつある「BYO」についてお話ししたいと思います。

BYOとは「Bring Your Own」の略で、訳すと「自分のを持ってきて」という意味になります。もし今後BYOイベントに招待されたとすれば、自分で飲み物または食べ物を持ってこなければいけません。そして、BYOの最後に追加される文字により、イベントの詳細を知ることができます。例えば「BYOB」という表示もあり、「bring your own booze/ beer/ beverage」(ブリング・ヨア・オーン・ブーズ/ビール/ベバレッジ）の略であり、自分でお酒や飲み物を持ってきてという意味になります。「BYOM」という表示の場合、「bring your own meat」（ブリング・ヨア・オーン・ミート）の略であり、自分で肉を持参することを意味します。何を持って来れば良いのか不明確の場合もありますので、お店や担当者の方に聞いてみてくださいね♪

Summertime! The sun is out, the weather is hot, and the activities are plentiful! The months when you can cut loose and have fun. You can go to the beach, the pool, or you might even be invited to a party or barbeque. But what happens if someone tells you that the party or barbeque is “BYO”?

While it is not the most common expression you will hear, if you ever do get invited to a BYO event, then it means to Bring Your Own. What this means is that someone will be hosting the event, but they won’t be supplying all the food or beverages.

You’ll know more details about the event by what letter is added to the end of the BYO. If it is BYOB, that means Bring Your Own Beverage. If it is BYOM, it means Bring Your Own Meat. Sometimes, it can be unclear, so if unsure, just ask!
